Canine Good Citizen, is your dog one?
The Canine Good Citizen program was established by the AKC to encourage pet owners to train their dogs. It is open to all dogs, both mixed and purebred. The test consists of a series of stations where the dog team demonstrates the ability to perform specific behaviors. By passing each of these stations, the dog show they are indeed a "good citizen" by allowing petting from strangers, a vet examination and grooming.
In addition, he shows he can be civilized when interacting with people both individually and in crowded environments, even if other dogs are present. The bond between owner and dog is enhanced by working through all the different situations required for successful completion of the Canine Good Citizen (CGC) test.

We offer a 5 week class to help you and your dog prepare for the CGC test with the test being given at the end on Week 5. During class, we work on all the stations with particular emphasis given to those that involve interaction with other dogs and people, including the supervised isolation.

Classes meet once a week for 5 weeks and are approximately
1 hour long, with the CGC test being given on the 5th week.

The cost for the 5 week course is $95 which includes the price of the test.
